The New York Philharmonic is looking to raise its profile as a premier cultural experience with the launch of its 2010–2011 Musical Suppers series.

Ms. Sheraton has arranged a variety of chefs for the dinners. The Suppers series creates a unique, intimate and high-end cultural experience, positioning the Philharmonic at the front of New York’s cultural scene.

"The aim of the New York Philharmonic’s Musical Suppers series is to create a unique and intimate high-end cultural experience, positioning the Philharmonic at the forefront of New York’s cultural scene in the larger sense," said Eric Latzky, vice president of communications at the New York Philharmonic, New York.

"Our host, former Times restaurant critic Mimi Sheraton, has assembled a top-notch line-up of chefs for this season’s dinners, which will be intimate affairs pairing the best of music and food. "

The Supper Series will be hosted by former New York Times restaurant critic Mimi Sheraton and will take place at Arpeggio Food & Wine in Avery Fisher Hall. The New York Philharmonic performs in Avery Fisher Hall, located in New York's Lincoln Center.

Song and supper
Musical Suppers are held after concerts and seating is limited to 70 people. Tickets are $225 each and are only available to concert attendees. They can be purchased at http://www.nyphil.org/musicalsuppers.

The Musical Suppers series runs from Dec. 10 to June 10, 2011.

This season’s Musical Suppers series features a variety of top chefs, many of whom have restaurants opening this season. Chefs featured include Kurt Gutenbrunner, Andre Soltner, Alain Ducasse, Marcus Samuelsson and Michael White.

“Their dinners will each be unique representations of their own particular style, such as Mr. Gutenbrunner’s celebration of a Viennese Christmas on December 10, paired with a concert program featuring the quintessential Austrian composer, Mozart,” Mr. Latzky said.

Musical intention
The Musical Suppers are aimed at well-heeled connoisseurs of culture. They are designed to offer consumers unique experiences by pairing a New York Philharmonic performance with a dinner created by a star chef. The dinners allow consumers to mingle with New York Philharmonic musicians and the chefs.

“Many of the people who come to Musical Suppers are drawn in by the chance to attend an intimate dinner designed by a well-known chef and it might therefore be their first time attending a New York Philharmonic concert – as well as vice versa,” Mr. Latzky said. “The connection among all participants is their love of culture at the highest level,” he said.

“As with other partnerships the New York Philharmonic engages in, such as our new collaboration with the watchmaker Breguet and our ongoing partnership with Global Sponsor Credit Suisse, shared values of excellence are what tie it all together.”
