BMW's C evolution scooters with Sardinian police officers
German automaker BMW is furthering its good environmental standing with the delivery of emission-free scooters to the police force of Sardinia, Italy’s capital city.
BMW Motorrad’s C evolution scooter melds performance with riding pleasure along with the benefits of an electric, zero-emissions vehicle to create an ideal ride for urbanites. BMW has focused its efforts on sustainable vehicles under its automotive wing as well with the introduction of the electric i series, most recently with sustainable lifestyle products inspired by the models (see story).
Zero-emissions ride
After a successful introduction to Barcelona’s police units (see story), BMW Motorrad has presented Cagliari, the capital of the Italian island Sardinia, with a fleet of BMW C evolution scooters.
With the introduction of the C evolution scooters, Cagliari will benefit from the efficient and environmentally friendly vehicles. The scooters are nearly identical to the consumer model, but have been modified with additional equipment such as a loudspeaker and signaling system.
BMW presented the scooters to Massimo Zedda, the mayor of Cagliari alongside police chief Mario Delogu and other representatives of the city council.

In a branded statement, Stefano Ronzoni, head of BMW Motorrad Italia, said, “We are proud to equip the local police in Cagliari with 15 new BMW C evolution scooters. Equipping motorcycle-mounted police with BMW vehicles is something of a time-honored tradition at BMW Motorrad. Since 2001, police forces in Italy have placed their faith in BMW motorcycles such as the R 850 Rt, F 650 GS, R 1150 RT and R 1200 RT, as well as the F 700 GS. And now the BMW C evolution electric scooter is among their number as well.”
Both models of the BMW C evolution scooter have a nominal power of 15kp, a peak power of 47.5 hp and a top speed of approximately 75 mph. Making the scooter ideal for a city setting, the scooter can go a range of about 62 miles before needing to recharge from its main supply.
