The Peninsula Paris hotel is celebrating the International Paris Air Show with a collaboration with Air France.

Guests will be able to experience the menu that was served onboard the first non-stop flight between Paris and New York in the 1950s. Also, an exhibition of the advertisements from the original flights will be in an exhibition in the hotel, creating a throwback experience for aviation fans.

From June 15-21, the Paris Air Show is featuring the era of the first non-stop, commercial transatlantic flight. The history will be celebrated through exhibitions, food and drink.

The first transatlantic flight featured planes with sleeping compartments, lounges and a bar. The in-flight meals were nothing like airplane food of modern times.

Dishes served onboard in the 1950s included salmon and duck paired with American and French wines. Also, cocktails will be prepared with the aviation theme. They will be titled Aviation, Bombardier and the Escale.

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group looked to give airplane fare a upscale feel through a partnership with Cathay Pacific.

Chefs from six Mandarin Oriental hotels from four countries will participate in this partnership for all of 2015. First class guests on Cathay Pacific flights will have the opportunity to taste different options from several hotels, creating a way for the hotel to specifically target affluent consumers in first class (see story).
