U.S. electronic automaker Tesla Motors is celebrating a major milestone this week as its vehicles around the world have driven a combined total of 1 billion miles.
It has been only three years since the Model S was first introduced, but the popular automobile has already traveled the equivalent of more than 4,000 trips to the moon and almost 40,000 times around Earth. Tesla’s announcement emphasizes the safety and durability of the electronic car and will likely inspire new consumers to consider making purchases.
New frontier
Tesla’s Model S has been popular among consumers, and there are currently around 75,000 of the cars being driven around the world. It is especially impressive that the cars are being used so frequently that they have already driven 1 billion miles.
Tesla is celebrating this major milestone by inspiring drivers to continue to expand Tesla’s presence around the world. The automaker immediately announced its Next Billion Miles Tour, which will travel North America, Europe and Asia giving consumers the opportunity to test drive the electronic car.
Tesla's Model S is popular around the world
Tesla is committed to expanding energy efficiency around the world. The U.S. electric automaker recently announced that it is extending its energy-efficient inventions into the home with its new Powerwall home battery.
The new means for electricity generates energy from solar panels and powers the home at all times of the day, diminishing the gap between supply and demand by allowing a consumer’s solar energy to be available for their home whenever. Tesla’s entry into home is unlike any other automaker’s and has the capability to change the way electricity and energy is used around the world (see story).
