Swiss watchmaker Breguet is bringing an exhibition to Moscow that will highlight the innovation and history of the brand.

For about one month, GUM department store on the Red Square in Moscow will host the "Breguet, the Innovator" exhibit. Russian consumers will have the opportunity to learn about the brand's inventions and influences upon watchmaking while they are shopping.

In 1801 Abraham-Louis Breguet received a patent for the tourbillon, a regulator that prevented gravity from altering movement rates. Since then, the Breguet brand has continually produced new tourbillons and other technological advances to better its timepieces.

At the exhibit, famous individuals who owned Breguet watches will be honored. For instance, Marie-Antoinette was known to have passion for Breguet watches.

Breguet's Russian connection is evident in Alexander Pushkin's "Eugene Onegin," where the brand is mentioned.

The exhibit opened on Sept. 26 and will remain in the GUM department store until Oct. 22.

In addition, in San Francisco there is an upcoming Legion of Honor’s exhibition, “Breguet: Art & Innovation in Watchmaking”. It will be the largest exhibition of Breguet timepieces ever shown in the Americas. The exhibit will run from Sept. 2015 to Jan. 2016.

Breguet had presented a new exhibition in Shanghai this fall to build awareness among Chinese consumers.

The event took place in the brand’s store in the city and will highlight Breguet’s history in China. The exhibition was likely to bring attention to Breguet’s Chinese presence and draw Chinese consumers to the store (see story).
