U.S. fashion label Tom Ford is looking for a change of scenery from London Fashion Week and plans to hold its runway presentation in Los Angeles on Feb. 20 instead.

In a move that may possibly annoy London-based fashion enthusiasts and editors, Tom Ford is taking a personal approach and hosting its show in its founder’s surrogate hometown for the past 20 years. With the Academy Awards slated for Feb. 22, Tom Ford will be able to draw a closer parallel to the allure of Hollywood as reflected in Mr. Ford’s decision and designs.

To remind its consumers of the decision to host its fall/winter 2015 runway show in Los Angeles rather than London, Tom Ford shared a save the date on its social media accounts.

The black-and-white image shows palm trees whereas London this time of year is still enrobed in wintery weather. Text reads “Live from Los Angeles” and Tom Ford in larger text along with the show’s date and a hashtag, #TFLA.

A link directs the consumer to live.tomford.com where the presentation can be viewed via livesteam Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. PST.

In a statement, Mr. Ford said he and his husband have “always felt a deep-rooted connection to the city. Like fashion, film is also a creative endeavor that is extremely important to me. I am excited to bring these two aspects of my life together by presenting the collection in Los Angeles.”

The move to a Hollywood setting is also strategic with Mr. Ford telling Women’s Wear Daily that the shows relocation will allow him the chance to do in-person red carpet fittings with celebrities before the night of the Oscars (see story).

Londoners need not worry, Mr. Ford has plans to return to London Fashion Week for the following season.
