Swiss footwear and accessories brand Bally will be the center of attention for anxious viewers at the Academy Awards as it holds the ballots for this year’s Oscar winners.

Neil Patrick Harris will carry the Bally Sapei briefcase with this year’s awards inside. Bally will be striving for attention among the many designs present at the Oscars, but the prominence of the briefcase will likely draw attention from the highly anticipated event.

And the award goes to…

For apparel, accessories and jewelry brands, the Academy Awards allows them a platform for both product placement and celebrity endorsements.

Dressing stars for red carpet appearances allows brands to spread awareness, as viewers at home hear the actors list what they are wearing. It is up to the brands to then take the images and publicity and leverage it in the best way (see story).

Bally had a different role as it prepared for the awards show. The Sapei briefcase will hold the results of the ballots counted by PwC accountant.

On social media, Bally timed its announcement around the buzz of Oscar nominations with a photo of the Academy Award’s host, Mr. Harris, holding the briefcase with two giant Oscar statues behind him.
