Colored-gemstone miner Gemfields is extending its relationship with actress Mila Kunis from campaign face to jewelry collaborator.

Ms. Kunis has been a global ambassador for Gemfields since 2013 with fronting a series of print campaigns, appearing at branded events around the world and by consistently wearing jewelry on the red carpet. Developing a partnership beyond an ambassadorship to physical products may cause Ms. Kunis’ fans to be more engaged with Gemfields.

Rings of occasion
After becoming a mother, Ms. Kunis realized that there are rings given to celebrate momentous occasions such as a graduation, engagement or wedding, but none for the birth of a child.

Ms. Kunis worked with Italian jewelry designer Marina B, who sources its emeralds from Gemfields, to design a ring to celebrate motherhood. The Mila Motherhood ring is crafted in 18-karat yellow gold and features a Gemfield Zambian emerald in the signature Marina B cut.

Emeralds were selected for the project because the stone is traditionally associated with symbols of motherhood, wisdom and long-lasting love, and it is also a symbol of hope in many cultures.

Priced at $4,800, the Mila ring is currently available in limited quantities. The ring can be reserved here.

Ms. Kunis also worked with Gemfields on a philanthropic mission connected to sales of the Mila ring. One hundred percent of the profit from Marina B and Gemfields' Mila Motherhood ring will be donated to the opening of the Gemfield Nkana Health Center in Zambia.

Proceeds raised will help support the health center overall and establish a maternity clinic.

Gemfields has worked with other jewelers to give back to the communities that support its mining practices.

For example, the colored-gemstone miner extended its sustainable business practices into civic engagement with a charity partnership, Project Blossoming, with India’s Project Nanhi Kali.

Translated to mean “little bud” in Hindi, Project Nanhi Kali is dedicated to improving the lives of Indian girls through education. Selecting a charity rooted in India is fitting for Gemfields, since the country is a key market for the brand (see story).
